'That was it. My life was made.' RAW House Show Review Part 1. -16 November '10

RAW House Show in Birmingham, England. 6th of November 2010.

This show was our 8th wrestling show to date. The great thing about seeing live events are that you get to experience something different every time you go.

We have seen some pretty amazing things at these live events: The first RAW in England, Smackdown from the 4th row ringside, even the short lived British PPV 'Rebellion'. But both of us said that this is one of the best shows we have ever been to.

Match 1.

R-Truth came out rapping and generally being happy (To our surprise, he had his old 'What's Up?' entrance music. Obviously people in England are too slow to learn the words to the new one...). Who was his opponent, I hear you ask? Well it was only season 2 of NXT's star rookie and Miz look-a-like, ALEX RILEY. As soon as we saw him at the top of the ramp, we went absolutely crazy. I think we were the only people in the arena who were...Truth won, which wasn't surprising but the match was a good starting point for the evening.

Match 2.

Usos = meh. These guys need to show a bit more personality to become good heels. Alternatively, they could reform Too Cool and dance around the ring. On the other hand, Santino + Koslov = Pure comedy genius. The crowd always go crazy for them and I think it makes Kozlov tolerable. The anonymous GM also travelled all the way to Birmingham and informed the teams that before the match there had to be a dance-off. What came next made me laugh more than I ever have at any show I have been to. I normally hate anything that involves athletes dancing, but I would pay good money to see this dance off again. I'm sure there is a video on youtube that you could look up. Anyway, Santino and Koslov won and I came to the conclusion that Santino is one of the best comedy wrestlers WWE has ever had.

Match 3.

We had no idea what matches there would be that night. The next entrance music we heard gave us both complete joy. 'OH RADIO, TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW.' My day was made. Forget Stone Cold, Ric Flair, The Undertaker or Shawn Michaels, there isn't a wrestler I have ever been so happy to see. Zack Ryder has been one of our favourites for a good year now but we had never got to see him live before. As soon as his music hit we started screaming and jumping around like the crazy fangirls we are. People were staring but we didn't care. We had a feeling that Zack was going to be there, so we made him a 'Zack Pack' sign. He looked at the sign and he liked the things he saw. Not only did he look but he did a 'Call Me' sign and gave us a nod. That was it. My life was made.

I hope Zack knows how thankful we are that he aknowledged us, it seriously made our night. (He was against Ezekiel Jackson but there is nothing much to say there. Zack deserves much better.)

Match 4.

Goldust vs Ted DiBiase. This match was very good, I think Ted and Goldust work well together. Teddy was doing his normal heel thing that he does at house shows, which consists of him spending more time out of the ring shouting at people than he does in the ring. Goldust ended up winning and taking the Million Dollar Championship with him. Not a bad result at all.

Match 5.

REGAL, REGAL, REGAL... The man gets treated like a King in England. I think the only ones who still boo him are the kids that don't understand the 'heel in America, face in their home town' thing. After the major high of Regal came a major low. 2 words, Daniel Bryan. We know the man can wrestle, we know he is talented, we know he has held a lot of major championships all around the world but we just don't like the guy. Ever since NXT he has just got on our nerves and when we heard his silly entrance music we just groaned with disappointment. Although, what came next was quite enjoyable. Whilst he was getting into the ring I decided to display my dislike for him (you can't enjoy it if you don't get into it), we were holding a Regal sign up and booing the hell out of him. He then stopped, looked straight at me and decided to laugh at me for a good 5 seconds. It was very patronising and kind of rude but I applaud the man for playing the heel and making me dislike him even more. Well done.

The match unfortunately didn't live up to expectations but it was still one of the best of the night. Regal's age limits what he can do nowadays but he still gave Bryan a run for his money. Bryan locked in his submission (one of my least favourite finishers) and won the match. Regal was a good sport and got even more respect from everyone in that building.

Match 6.

Wade Barrett vs Randy Orton. Unlike Regal, Barrett was no home town hero. You can tell how much impact the Nexus have as a heel stable by how much Barrett got booed that night. We were cheering him, of course but he played his part very well. He started off by saying that he came from 'the greatest city in the world, Manchester'. Nice move Wade, even though I agreed with him it seemed as if the rest of the Birmingham crowd didn't. Every one went crazy for Randy as usual and he spent a good 5 minutes posing.

Underrated Wrestlers, our pick. '...why does he not have a title?' - 6th September '10

Underrated. A word that gets used a lot throughout the pro-wrestling community. So we thought that we would share with our massive audience of zero followers who we thought deserved a little bit more.

Zack Ryder.
Poor Zack, a swift kick to the face from Sheamus and that was the end of his first World Title match. As you can tell we love Zack, his hair, his tan, his catchphrase. But WWE seem to be putting him on the back burner recently. He had a very good match on RAW before the Fatal Four Way PPV, but apart from the mentioned incident with Sheamus, he has not really been used all that much. Come on WWE, you have a young, healthy, good wrestler with one of the best characters to get heel heat. Use him please! (Preferably in more matches with Evan Bourne.)

Christian.
The veteran who has never really had a chance. Many think that Christian's lack of title matches is because he spent quite a while in TNA and Vince is punishing him. Really Vince? Christian is a entertaining wrestler who knows what he is doing. Plus, he is a fan favourite. Get Edge back on Smackdown and put him in a feud with Christian immediately!

Matt Hardy.
We have been Hardy Boyz fans since the start and Matt has never once had a World Title in all these years. We know that nowadays Matt is a little on the round side, (Fat Matt, Husky Hardy, you know what we mean.) but he is still very capable. He is another fan favourite who always gets a loud ovation so why does he not have a title?

Cody Rhodes.
DASHING. We love this man with his eyebrow combing and his gleaming smile, but it seems that although he is on Smackdown every week, a title opportunity hasn't come his way in a while. I think he would be a great IC Champ and he is one of the best heels the company has. He is only young, so hopefully the future holds bright things for Cody.

William Regal, Gail Kim, Goldust and the Dudebusters all get mentions too.

...one-legged tights are the future. - 5 July '10

Here at 'Oh My...' we like, no love, Cody Rhodes. This is why there is yet another blog about this 'Dashing' superstar after this week's Smackdown.

His promo this week was truly HILARIOUS. I know that he can't stop telling people how dashing he is, but who knew the man had this much comedic talent? Ok, maybe it wan't supposed to be funny but I laughed because I know how much of a nerd he is really...(Woah, is that a Zelda Triforce Cody?)

The whole backstage area and the fact that he was wearing a towel reminded me of this monumental event in WWE's history >

On Superstars this week, something happened that is quite possibly
the shocker of the century. Zack Ryder...In trunks.

WHAT HAPPENED ZACK?! Where did your one-legged tights go? When Zack walked down the ramp, there was a gasp, then a silence of about 30 seconds before Lauren got why I gasped in the first place. (She had a Joey moment.)

We still love Long Island Iced Z, but we have to ask the question : "Why Zack, why?" Is it because your ex-girlfriend decides to exercise during Smackdown tapings? I suppose we will never know, but please ditch the trunks.
Everybody knows that one-legged tights are the future...(And plus it took us so long to make those damn tights on SvR 2010.)

We seem to notice on RAW that when John Cena doesn't have the championship, he reverts back to the comedian Cena. However, when he does have the championship he seems to be all serious....
Therefore, this week John Cena came down the ramp smiling. He made a few jokes, danced around a bit and even called Sheamus a human jar of mayonnaise. (Even though John himself used to be pale, search for Episode 49 of the Dirt Sheet, you will love it.) I adore this Cena, the man who shows off his mic skills and makes you laugh. It makes him a bit more likable to the masses.
Be funny Cena! It suits you!
